Attendance

Trainees are expected to attend this important training obligation.

Trainees enrolled in a Specialist Registrar (SpR) or Specialty Training (ST) programme are strongly encouraged to attend the Surgical Teaching Programme.

A record of attendance will be kept and made available to the appraisal committee at the Record of In-training Assessment (RITA) interview. Any trainee who has missed a substantial portion of the training programme will be asked to provide a valid reason.

This is to ensure that trainees are released from clinical commitments and to protect freedom to attend the sessions.

We have arranged with all the consultant trainers in the region for trainees to be released from clinical commitments to attend this important monthly training obligation unless they have responsibility for emergency duties.

Trainees who are not enrolled in a formal training program are welcome and encouraged to attend if their clinical commitments permit.
