Surgical Skills Club

A trainee group meeting weekly for regular practice of surgical and other skills

Luck has nothing to do with it, because I have spent many, many hours, countless hours on the court, working for my one moment in time, not knowing when it would come.

Skills Club

Every Tuesday

6.30-8am

Seminar Room, Ward 23, WGH

We run a Skills Club every Tuesday morning - This is a trainee-led practice session to develop some practical surgical skills. We have kit to learn/improve your suturing, hand-tying, anastamosis, vascular surgery and laparoscopic skills. Participants self-identify the skills they would like to develop and there are people on-hand to give them guidance/exercises/feedback. There is also opportunity to get work-based assessments completed, develop some teaching skills or even develop an educational project for presentation/publication.

Practising your surgical skills will give you the BEST chance of utilising opportunities in theatre as they arise - opening & closing wounds, draining abscesses, forming stomas, removing appendix - if your skills are ready to go you are MUCH more likely to be able to access/develop opportunities.

Its early but a great way to start the day!
