Year: 2022/23 I thoroughly enjoyed my Colorectal fellowship at the Western Edinburgh. I performed over 80 major resections during my year and gained significant operative experience in my subspecialist area of interest- IBD in a high volume pouch unit gaining operative skills in ileal pouch anal anastomosis, revision of pouch and excision. Managing a busy dedicated colorectal on call was useful to hone decision making across a spectrum of common and rarer presentations of colorectal pathology with high emergency laparotomy numbers. All of the consultant body are excellent trainers and I would not hesitate to recommend the fellowship, the wider team is approachable, friendly and a pleasure to work with. I have now taken up a substantive colorectal consultant post at Bristol Royal Infirmary. This article was published on 2024-10-09
