Dr Coxon is currently working as a Senior Lecturer with Edinburgh Surgery Online, within the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. She is the Deputy Programme Director for the MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors Programme – a programme which is an enterprise between The University of Edinburgh and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She has growing experience of personal tutoring as well as experience delivering the MSc in Primary Care Ophthalmology having been academic Support Lead for Research Projects in Year 3. She undertook an Arthritis UK funded PhD at Keele University looking at patient decision-making and patient preferences for managing Osteoarthritis within general practice. She has worked extensively developing discrete choice experiments (DCEs) which require a mixed methodological approach, therefore she has extensive experience working with Patient Public Involvement (PPI), conducting focus groups and cognitive interviews as well as survey development and validity testing of surveys. In her previous role as research fellow at the University of Edinburgh she worked on a Cancer Research UK grant collaboratively with an international and interdisciplinary community of early cancer diagnosis researchers from the UK, Denmark and Australia. She has a growing experience of teaching within medical education and is also a qualified Counsellor/psychotherapist and works privately with clients in Edinburgh.
