Consultant Transplant Surgeon and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer Appointments and Activities Mekhola joined the Edinburgh Transplant Centre as a consultant kidney/pancreas transplant and abdominal organ retrieval surgeon in October 2022. She completed her transplant surgical training and PhD in transplant immunology in Cambridge. Her research interests include cell therapy, organ resuscitation/regeneration and robotic surgery. She is a recipient of the ASGBI/Intuitive Surgical Robotics and RCSEng One-Year Surgical Research Fellowships. She was previously secretary to the UK national transplant surgical trainee Herrick Society. She is a former winner of the Medawar Medal and Patey Prize. This article was published on 2024-02-06
