Appointments and Activities

Mr McGregor is a Consultant Oesophago-Gastric Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and Honorary Senior Lecturer for the University of Edinburgh. During his surgical training in South East Scotland he completed a Wellcome Trust Funded PhD having been appointed to the flagship Edinburgh Clinical Academic Training (ECAT) Program (link here). Thereafter, he undertook a minimally invasive oesophago-gastric surgery and sarcoma fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. 

Current research interests include studying quality performance indicators to improve patient outcomes following complex benign and malignant Upper GI Surgery. He is the Quality Improvement Lead for General Surgery, and he has an active role in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He is a Non-Technical Skills for Surgeons (NoTTS) Instructor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), and e-tutor for the MSc in Patient Safety & Clinical Human Factors (link here). 

Mr McGregor is the Year 1 Director for the Masters in Surgery Degree at the University of Edinburgh  (link here) - a distance learning degree, based upon the UK Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum, delivered via the University's virtual learning environment.
