We have particular expertise in several areas, including oesophagogastric cancer. We provide a regional service in the South-East of Scotland for the management of oesophago-gastric disease. With the Hepatobiliary and pancreatic (HPB) Unit, we also provide specialist emergency care for patients in Lothian with upper gastrointestinal disease. We offer a full range of general elective and emergency surgery, with particular specialty expertise in relation to: oesophagogastric cancer laparoscopic upper gastrointestinal surgery, including antireflux surgery and biliary surgery tertiary referrals for complex revisional hiatal hernia surgery tertiary referrals for oesphagogastric emergencies expertise in endocrine and trauma surgery we currently also have a nurse specialist for emergency laparotomy bariatric surgery Some of our consultants also have a particular interest in the treatment of complex abdominal hernias. All our consultants contribute to emergency on-call and provide elective sessions for clinics, 23-hour surgery and clinics at St John's Hospital in Livingston and day case surgery and clinics at Roodlands Hospital, Haddington.
