She undertook foundation training in South-East Scotland and particularly enjoyed working in General Surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Nichola has a passion for teaching. She is currently working as an Anatomy Teaching Fellow and tutor to final year medical students on their surgical attachment. She recently designed and set-up an 'Art and Anatomy' course which aims to teach medical students innovative ways to learn anatomy through different art media from clay to body paint. She also leads the organisation of Simulated Surgical Skills Sessions for 5th year medical students on their surgical attachment. Her academic interest was sparked in 4th year of medical school when she led the implementation of an enhanced recovery protocol following pancreaticoduodenectomy. Nichola is currently in the 2nd year of ESSQ - a part-time MSc is Surgical Sciences and is working on two research projects.
