The Edinburgh Surgical Sciences Qualification is intended to guide and support the trainee during the early stages of their career, within the new training programmes in surgery, whether these be run-through or based on a core or generic surgical curriculum. The programme for surgical trainees represents a historic collaboration between the University of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, both of whom have been at the forefront of innovations in surgical education and assessment over centuries. It is quality assured and enables trainees to gain educational credits from the University of Edinburgh that are validated by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, leading progressively to a Certificate (Year 1), Diploma (Year 2) and a Masters in Surgical Sciences (Year 3).
